Last week, I took Allison to the Ohio State Fair. This was her second time going and this year it was even more fun than the last. I went with the same people (my little brother and two cousins) in addition to my friend this year. I got to do more this year because I was more prepared and wrote down what times some of the cool events were. This year, we visited many of the event buildings with animals, saw the petting zoo, visited the Natural Resources park for the first time, and had a picnic in the central park.
Unfortunately, we did not get to see the “Paw Patrol” characters that were supposed to be there that day. We got to do other fun things instead. Allison loved petting the cows and my brother also got to milk a cow. Allison also got the ride a pony again this year and she really enjoyed it. She did not want to get off. The kids all had fun so it’s becoming a nice tradition for me to take them.
Unfortunately, due to a ride related tragedy this year, we did not go on any of the fair rides. One person died on the first day of the fair, and seven more were injured. I pray for all of these families involved so that they find peace in this tragic event. Instead, the kids played some of the carnival games and won prizes. Overall, it was not too difficult navigating the fair with a toddler. I brought plenty of snacks and drinks. Also, the kids helped with both Allison and pushing the stroller (when she wanted to wander instead of sit). We were there for almost 5 hours and I got plenty of exercise for the day. Allison fell asleep towards the end, but we were getting ready to leave anyways so that was perfect timing.
