Allison turned one on January 28 but we decided not to have a party for her. Our house is incomplete and in the process of being remodeled.
I did however invite the two cousins that are closest to Allison in age (and one of theirs’ two siblings). I served tea, sweets, sandwiches and homemade sushi. Prior to the “play date” my husband and I decided to spend the day with Allison and that began with going out to Applebee’s for lunch. I asked the workers to sing for her birthday and she really enjoyed that, as well as the brownie bite they gave her. We then took Allison to the local mall to let her play in the indoor playground with some other kids. After, we went to Toys R Us to buy her Masha and the Bear toys- one Masha and one Bear toy. I also picked up some donuts and a little smash cake for the play date. Allison had fun at her play date with her cousins and she also enjoyed her smash cake. The next day, my husband set up one of her gifts, which is a play kitchen, and she loves that as well. I think overall Allison had a fun day and I have photos for her to look at when she’s older and understands. I didn’t have a big budget for her big day because I didn’t have a party, so I just bought a cute sparkly dress that I found on sale, to take photos in. I also bought some white balloons as a prop. For other birthdays, I’m sure Allison will want a party, but for this one it was difficult to find a decent party place so I just decided to forgo it.
John 16:21 (NIV) A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world.
